Interior Painting Benefits

When it comes to affordability and overall impact, interior painting is one of the best ways to transform the look and feel of your home.   A fresh coat of paint can transform a room and remove years of built up stains and dirt.    Interior paint serves a similar purpose to exterior paint. Paint keeps out moisture, preventing mold or mildew from building up. It also repels dirt, dust, and allergens from your walls. If you live in an older home that has plaster walls, the paint can prevent dust from forming where the plaster would otherwise deteriorate.

Most people love the dramatic change that comes with painting their walls. If you live in a smaller space, painting the walls a bright color can help open up that space. Light paint colors create space while dark colors make rooms feel cozier and smaller.

Be mindful of the paint color you use. Use a dark color on an accent wall to add a pop of color without making your room feel cold and cramped.  A change of color can change the mood and style of a room. Reds and some yellows are ideal for accent colors throughout a home or business, while blues and purples are perfect for bedrooms, kitchens, and living room spaces.  We can assist you in selecting the perfect color for your home.

One of the best ways to improve the value of your home while saving money is to repaint your walls. It’s an affordable way to remodel, and it makes your home look attractive to potential buyers.

How Often Should I Have My Interior Painted?

For the best results, your interior walls be repainted every 3-5 years. If you remodel your home or change the style of a room, you may need to repaint it sooner. Depending on your lifestyle, family, and your activities, you may have to paint more often to keep walls from looking dingy, especially if you have pets or small children.

Types Of Interior Paints Sheens

Flat:

  1. Flat paint has a velvety, matte look and is the best choice to hide any wall imperfections.
  2. However, it’s the least durable choice and doesn’t usually stand up well to scrubbing.  New quality paints have been able to tackle this problem and we can now offer paints that are washable flat.
  3. The good news is that many high quality paint formulas clean up easily with soap and water, but people still tend to shy away from flat paint in favor of other sheens that are easier to care for.

Satin:

  1. Satin paint has some sheen to it, and is an excellent choice for hardworking rooms, like kitchens and bathrooms.
  2. It stands up exceptionally well for scrubbing and regular cleaning.
  3. However, its glossiness highlights wall imperfections such as cracks, divots, or poorly patched areas.

Eggshell:

  1. An eggshell finish has a more subtle shine to it, so it’s a great choice if you’re not ready for satin.
  2. It offers what you may expect – it’s shinier than flat, but not as glossy as satin). It’s also easier to clean than flat, but not as easy to clean as satin.
  3. Eggshell paint is a good choice for living rooms, hallways, and bedrooms.

Trim Sheen Types

 Gloss:

  1. The more gloss present in the paint, the more durable it is.
  2. Gloss paint is indeed going to be the toughest, but bear in mind that it will also show the most imperfections.
  3. Unless you’re truly looking for the shiniest finish you can find, you may be happier with semi-gloss.

Semi-Gloss:

  1. Semi-gloss paint is what we use for all trim and woodwork.
  2. The shine sets it apart from the walls, which is important if you’re not distinguishing it by color (white walls with white trim, for example).
  3. It also adds a luster that can make anything look richer in an instant.
  4. Plus, it’s easy to care for with soap and water or a soft cloth for removing dust.
